Meet Kate, An Eco-Fashion Veteran On a Mission

If there’s anything the last year has taught us, it is that we are all woven together, much like the individual threads that come together to make something strong, functional, and beautiful.

We are happy to introduce our new brand, WVN (pronounced woven). The venture builds on what we’ve accomplished in our many years as Synergy Organic Clothing: the highest standards of sustainability, fair trade and beautiful clothing you can love and wear every day of your life.

WVN is born out of my decades of experience in fashion and travel. I began my first apparel company in 1993 when I started selling clothes from my travels in India and Nepal at Grateful Dead Concerts. After pivoting to all organic fabrics, I founded Synergy Organic Clothing with my husband and business partner Henry Schwab.

I learned on my first trip to Nepal in 1993 while trekking in the Himalayas, how much freedom and opportunity I had. Ever since my aha moment of talking with a girl my age at a tea house in the Himalayas, I have realized that my purpose on this planet was to help us all remember that we are all connected, and that maintaining a caring relationship with one another and our planet ensures a brighter future for us all.

As a world-traveler with a deep love for India and Nepal, I am committed to bridging cultures by building intimate relationships with heritage artisans and engaging only in earth-friendly production methods. WVN will continue to share personal relationships with Fair Trade factories, empower women through give back initiatives, and uphold B-Corp. status while creating universally loved women’s clothing from the most sustainable and innovative materials we can find.

I have always felt that personal style is not just a look. It is the energy of the individual and her place in the world. WVN is a blend of classic-timeless style derived from my East Coast roots, merged with the free spirit of my California lifestyle. I believe that fashion and doing good don’t have to be mutually exclusive and that we are stronger when we come together to work on a future where we can all thrive.
